HOLTON, Kan. — A Topeka man has been convicted of eight felony sex crimes against a child following a four-day jury trial in Jackson County.
Teddy Lynn Moore, 58, of Topeka, was found guilty of two counts of rape, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, according to the Jackson County Attorney’s Office.
The crimes occurred between 2018 and 2023.
Moore’s case went before a Jackson County jury, which returned guilty verdicts on all eight counts following four days of testimony and evidence. Unlike an arrest or criminal charge, the case has now resulted in convictions.
Arrested in March
Moore was arrested March 6, 2026, on a Jackson County District Court warrant and has remained in custody on a $1 million bond, according to the publicly reported case information.
Although the prosecution occurred in Jackson County, Moore was identified as a Topeka resident at the time of his arrest.
The case involved some of the most serious offenses under Kansas criminal law. Rape and aggravated criminal sodomy involving a child can carry substantial prison sentences, though Moore’s exact potential sentence will depend on the specific statutory classifications applicable to the convictions and the court’s sentencing determination.
Sentencing set for December
Moore is scheduled to return to Jackson County District Court for sentencing at 2:30 p.m. on December 10.
The identity of the child is appropriately being withheld.
The verdict concludes the trial but not the criminal case. Moore remains convicted unless the verdicts are subsequently overturned or otherwise altered through post-trial proceedings or appeal.
This Is Topeka will follow the case through Moore’s December sentencing.
