One Dead After Overnight Shooting in East Topeka; Police Investigating

TOPEKA, Kan. — Topeka police are investigating a deadly shooting after officers found a person dead early Sunday morning in East Topeka.

According to information released by the Topeka Police Department, officers were called to the 2300 block of SE 23rd Street shortly after 12:05 a.m. Sunday, August 23, on a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not publicly identified the victim, and no suspect or arrest had been announced in connection with the shooting as of the latest available information.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting also remain unclear.

The case is being investigated as a homicide, and additional information is expected as detectives continue their investigation.
