TOPEKA, Kan. — A Shawnee County man indicted on multiple child exploitation charges is now back in the community after posting bond, with a key court date set later this month.
According to court filings, Devin Lee King faces 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, each a Level 5 person felony under Kansas law.
The indictment alleges that between January 3, 2025, and May 20, 2025, King possessed visual depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, with intent tied to sexual gratification.
Possible Co-Conspirator
The case may not involve King alone. Court records and related investigations have identified Joseph James Lake III as a possible co-conspirator connected to the broader investigation. At this stage, any connection between the two remains part of an ongoing legal process and has not been adjudicated in court.
Out on Bond
Court documents show a $50,000 bond was requested in the case.
King has since posted bond and is no longer in custody, meaning he is currently out in the public while the case proceeds through the court system.
Standard bond conditions typically include requirements such as remaining law-abiding and complying with court orders.
Upcoming Court Hearing
A scheduling conference is set for:
- April 23, 2026
- 3:00 p.m.
- Division 01, Courtroom 403
- Shawnee County District Court
The hearing will establish timelines for motions and determine how the case will move forward.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and King is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
