LILA MARQUEZ | Local Brief
A small fire broke out this week in a parking lot staging area across from the College Avenue Building, where construction materials for a reroofing project had been stored.
The Topeka Fire Department responded quickly and was able to contain the fire before it spread. No buildings were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
Community members reacted with a mix of concern and gratitude on social media.
- “Thank God for all our Brave Fire Personnel. Praise God no one was injured.”
- “God is good!”
- “We heard about this! I’m so sorry that this happened!”
One commenter also raised a question about how the materials may have ignited.
Officials have not reported a cause at this time.
For now, the outcome is simple: fast response, no damage, and everyone safe.
