TOPEKA, Kan. — Multiple witnesses reported gunfire late Tuesday night in the parking lot of the Dugout, a south Topeka bar located near Hughes Park. Several 911 calls were made after shots were reportedly fired at a vehicle leaving the area.
According to early witness accounts posted online, a man fled in a red durango was seen shooting at a gray SUV as it left the Dugout’s parking lot. One bystander reported that a person ran inside the bar yelling that “someone is shooting at someone else.”
Residents near Hughes Park say they heard the gunfire from several blocks away.
“Yep. Dugout parking lot. I’m near Hughes Park and heard them,” one commenter wrote.
Another witness shared that the suspected gunman fled the area on foot, and a possible suspect vehicle was later seen near 22nd and Park. At this time, no injuries have been confirmed.
Reactions from residents online ranged from concern to frustration.
“Nothing new in this city,” one comment read, while others simply said “prayers” or reacted in shock.
As of early Wednesday morning, the Topeka Police Department has not released an official statement about the incident. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
