TOPEKA, Kan. (This Is Topeka) — A Topeka man is behind bars on a staggering $2.25 million bond after being booked into Shawnee County Jail in the early morning hours of November 1, 2025.

According to jail records, James Lee Hankensiefken, born January 17, 1977, was taken into custody at 1:00 a.m. and charged with multiple felonies involving minors, including Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child, Contributing to a Child’s Misconduct, and Interference with Parental Custody.

Each charge carries a $750,000 bond, bringing the total to an unprecedented $2.25 million. Authorities listed the booking agency as KS0890100.
