TOPEKA, Kan. — Families, survivors, and community members will gather tonight on the steps of the Kansas State Capitol for the 3rd Annual Fentanyl Awareness Rally, an event aimed at honoring loved ones lost, supporting those in recovery, and raising awareness of the fentanyl crisis gripping Topeka and beyond.

The rally, organized by TK Fights Fentanyl, Inc. (Kaylee’s Dad is Mad), runs from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. and features testimonies from bereaved parents, people in recovery, and representatives from the DEA. Memorial walls will be on display to remember lives cut short by illicit fentanyl, and attendees are encouraged to bring photos of their loved ones to place on the Capitol steps.

Music, Testimonies, and Resources

A live performance and testimony from a Kansas City artist will provide a moving backdrop to the evening. Several local organizations will be on hand with information about treatment, recovery services, and community support. Volunteers will also be available to offer prayer and one-on-one encouragement.

In addition, free Naloxone (Narcan) will be distributed while supplies last—a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses in emergencies.

A Growing Crisis in Topeka

The rally comes as Topeka continues to face an alarming rise in fentanyl-related arrests and deaths. Just this month, multiple cases of child sex crimes and drug offenses have drawn attention to the role fentanyl plays in fueling crime and devastating families. Community leaders and organizers say events like tonight’s are essential to keeping awareness and prevention efforts alive.
