If you had déjà vu scrolling through Thursday night’s bookings, you’re not alone.
Jade Marie Tice was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections Friday evening. At first glance, it looks like a new arrest involving aggravated assault, criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling, criminal damage to property, theft, and unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits.
Except…it’s not.
A look through the court records shows these charges are tied to the same criminal case that has already been working its way through the courts. The booking references the existing case number rather than a newly filed one.

Sometimes a booking isn’t the start of a new case. Sometimes it’s a reminder that an old one isn’t over.
Court records reflect that Tice remains charged—not convicted—with serious felony offenses stemming from allegations that shots were fired at an occupied residence. Those allegations are still pending before the court, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
So why the new booking?
The jail record doesn’t answer that question. It simply shows a booking on the existing warrant with no bond listed. Court records indicate activity in the case since the original filing, but they do not identify the precise reason for this latest booking in the records reviewed.
It’s a good reminder that criminal cases don’t move in a straight line. There are hearings, bond conditions, continuances, warrants, compliance reviews, and sometimes a return trip to jail before the underlying charges are ever resolved.
The booking report tells you someone is back.
The court file tells you the story isn’t finished.
And for everyone following the case, that’s where things stand today: same case, same allegations, new booking, and another chapter that will ultimately be decided in court.
