Well, folks, Topeka’s booking log just delivered a story spicier than a pot of Grandma’s chili—and about as dangerous if you get too close.
According to the Shawnee County Jail records, 80-year-old Sandra Joyce Gibson was booked on November 4th, 2025, at around 11:30 a.m., facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery involving rude physical contact with a family member. Both come with no bond, meaning Ms. Gibson will be spending a little quality time in the county’s finest accommodations until further notice.
While we don’t yet know what kind of “deadly weapon” was involved, it’s fair to say it probably wasn’t a knitting needle—or at least we hope not. One neighbor reportedly told no one in particular that “Sandra’s been meaner than a wet hen since her soap operas got canceled.”
Still, it’s not every day you see someone born in 1944 making the blotter for aggravated assault. Maybe she’s just tired of people ignoring her stories about how gas used to cost a quarter. Or maybe she’s a cautionary tale for everyone who thinks Grandma won’t swing first.
Either way, Topeka, the lesson here is simple: respect your elders… and maybe keep your distance when they reach for the frying pan.
