Update: This Is Topeka spoke with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and they are advising that volunteer searchers with ATVs or horses stay away from the area for now. The Sheriff’s Office is currently assembling teams with trained search dogs, and additional human or animal presence in the area could interfere with the dogs’ ability to track Patrick’s scent accurately. Officials are urging the public to remain patient while the trained teams conduct their search operations.
TOPEKA, Kan. — Family, friends, and community members are urgently searching for Patrick Anno Jr., a Topeka man who has been missing since Saturday night after attending the ABATE Labor Day Rally at Lake Perry.
Anno was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, walking away from his group’s campsite toward the entrance of the rally grounds. Family members say he did not have a vehicle with him and has not been seen since. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and slides (sandals).
His phone reportedly pinged three separate times near the 29th and Gage area in Topeka before the signal went dead.
Family’s Plea for Help
In a public post shared to Facebook, a family spokesperson issued an urgent call for help:
“Our family needs help…. My ex-husband, Patrick Anno Jr., has been missing since 9:30 p.m. Saturday from the Abate Rally at Lake Perry. He was last seen walking away from the camp towards the entrance. He did NOT have a vehicle to drive away in. His phone has pinged around 29th and Gage 3 times! HIS PHONE IS DEAD! Jefferson County are currently out doing a perimeter check of the grounds BUT that is a lot of area with trees, creeks, and lakes so we are pledging with everyone for help.
Please, be patient with 20 million questions — just know that our family needs HELP, not sitting on our phones.
ANY LITTLE THING HELPS EVEN IF YOU THINK IT WON’T!!!
