By Rev. Michael L. Thomas | Victory in the 785
TOPEKA, Kan. — Good morning, family!
Rev. Michael L. Thomas here, and today I’m standing firm in North Topeka, right off 46th Street, where something special is brewing. And no, family, I’m not just talking about the coffee!
I’m talking about Sparrow Specialty Coffee, one of our local favorites that’s making its mark across the capital city.
Victory!
Now listen to me, family. You know I love seeing Topeka win. I love seeing our people succeed, our neighborhoods grow, and our local businesses build something that makes the entire 785 proud.
And that’s exactly what we’re celebrating today.
Whether you’re visiting Sparrow’s downtown location or pulling through their spot here in North Topeka, you’re supporting something bigger than your morning caffeine fix.
You’re supporting a local vision. You’re supporting craftsmanship. You’re supporting people who have invested in our community and believe in what Topeka can become.
And family, that’s worth talking about!
More Than Just a Cup of Coffee
Let me tell you something. Anybody can pour a cup of coffee. But building a business that people recognize, return to, and recommend to their friends? That takes dedication.
That takes vision.
And most importantly, that takes a community willing to show up and support it.
Sparrow Specialty Coffee has become a familiar name around Topeka, and seeing that name represented in different parts of our city reminds me that good things are happening right here at home.
Sometimes we get so caught up talking about what’s wrong with Topeka that we forget to celebrate what’s going right.
Well, not today!
Today, we’re celebrating the entrepreneurs, the workers, and the customers who help keep our local economy moving.
Because every time we choose to spend a few dollars with a local business, we’re casting a little vote of confidence in our own community.
Building the Foundation, One Business at a Time
Family, you’ve heard me talk about building the foundation.
And I mean that.
A strong community doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built one relationship, one opportunity, one investment, and yes, sometimes one cup of coffee at a time.
When I see local businesses growing and reaching new neighborhoods, I see possibility.
I see somebody who had an idea and decided to do something with it.
I see a city with room for people to dream, work hard, and build something meaningful.
Now, that doesn’t mean every day is easy for a small-business owner. We know better than that. Running a business takes long hours, sacrifice, and a whole lot of determination.
That’s why we ought to recognize the people willing to take that chance right here in the 785.
And Sparrow Specialty Coffee deserves a little love today.
Now, Inner Circle, I Need to Hear From You!
Have you stopped by Sparrow’s location off 46th Street?
Are you a downtown regular?
And here’s the big question: Does Sparrow serve the best cup of coffee in the 785?
I want to hear from you!
Tell me your favorite drink. Tell me which location you visit. And if you’ve never been, maybe it’s time to pull over and give one of our local favorites a try.
Better yet, grab a friend, a coworker, or somebody you love and take them along.
Because supporting local businesses shouldn’t just be something we talk about. It ought to be something we practice.
Family, we’ve got good people doing good things all across Topeka. Sometimes all they need is for the rest of us to recognize them.
So today, I’m sending a little love to Sparrow Specialty Coffee and everybody working to make our city a better place to live, work, and grow.
Keep building the foundation. Keep supporting one another. And keep celebrating the victories happening right here in our own backyard.
This is Rev. Michael L. Thomas, reminding you that every victory matters, no matter how big or small.
Victory in the 785!
