Victory in the 785: Good Food, Good People and Building Community

Stop scrolling, Topeka family!

Victory!!

Excellence is found when we take care of the businesses that take care of our community.

Today, I’m stopping by Jose Pepper’s, and if you’ve spent much time around the 785, chances are you’ve got a memory here.

Maybe it was Sunday lunch after church. Maybe it was dinner with the family. Maybe it was meeting up with friends after a long week. Or maybe, like me, you already know that sometimes a bowl of Espinaca is reason enough to walk through the door!

But here’s what I’ve been thinking about:

A restaurant is more than a building with food inside.

It’s the servers who remember your table. The cooks working behind the scenes. The host who greets you at the door. It’s somebody’s first job, somebody else’s career, and a place where families in our community have gathered around the same tables for years.

That’s worth celebrating.

We spend a lot of time talking about what Topeka needs. More businesses. More opportunities. More places for families to go.

But part of building that Topeka is supporting the places we already have.

Every meal we share locally adds another brick to the foundation. Every good experience we tell somebody about helps create momentum. And every time we choose to focus on the good happening around us, we remind each other that there’s plenty in the 785 worth being proud of.

So, Topeka family, I want to hear from you:

What’s your favorite Jose Pepper’s memory — and what’s the one thing on the menu I absolutely need to order?

And don’t everybody say Espinaca. I already know about the Espinaca!

Keep supporting the people who serve our community. Keep looking for the good. Keep building the foundation.

We’ve got a city to build — and we’re building it together.

Victory!!
