A Topeka man who has already entered a guilty plea in an elder abuse case was booked into the Shawnee County Jail on Friday in connection with the same matter, according to jail records and court documents.

Shawnee County Jail records show that Tyler Jamison Harries, 35, was booked June 5, 2026, on a warrant alleging mistreatment of a dependent adult or elder person involving physical injury, unreasonable confinement, or unreasonable punishment. Jail records indicate he is being held without bond. The alleged offense is listed under Shawnee County case 26CR523.

Court records allege that on or about March 13, 2026, Harries knowingly inflicted physical injury, unreasonable confinement, or unreasonable punishment upon Julie Ann Harries, who was identified in the charging document as a dependent adult or elder person.

An arrest warrant filed in Shawnee County District Court alleged probable cause existed for the charge, which is classified as a Severity Level 5 Person Felony under Kansas law. Court records further show a judge initially set bond at $15,000 surety/cash with conditions that included remaining law-abiding and avoiding contact with the victim.

According to information provided from the court proceedings, Harries has since pleaded guilty to the charge. Sentencing is currently scheduled for July 9, 2026.

As with all criminal cases, sentencing remains at the discretion of the court. Additional details regarding the factual basis of the plea were not immediately available in the booking documents reviewed by This Is Topeka.

Court records show the case remains pending final disposition until sentencing.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. In this case, court records indicate the defendant has entered a guilty plea, and the matter is awaiting sentencing.
