TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) has announced new host sites for several classifications in the 2026 state volleyball championships, marking a notable shift in locations—including the tournament’s first move into the Kansas City metro area.
Under the updated plan, Class 6A and 5A will compete at AdventHealth Sports Park at BluHawk in Overland Park. The facility, which also hosts the state’s 6A wrestling championships, will serve as the top-tier venue for Kansas’ largest schools.
KSHSAA officials say the change is intended to enhance the championship experience.
“This is a first-class venue that will provide an outstanding experience for our student-athletes, coaches, and fans,” said Assistant Executive Director Sarah Smith in a release.
For smaller classifications, Class 2A and 1A Division I will be held at Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina. The centrally located arena has extensive experience hosting state tournaments and is expected to improve accessibility for schools traveling from across Kansas.
“Salina’s central location helps create a more accessible and balanced experience for those communities,” Smith said.
Other classifications will remain at established sites. Class 4A and 3A will return to Hutchinson Community College Sports Arena in Hutchinson, while Class 1A Division II will continue at White Auditorium in Emporia.
All championships are scheduled for October 29–31, 2026, and will be held across four locations statewide.
The changes reflect KSHSAA’s broader effort to balance geography, venue quality, and overall tournament experience as participation and expectations continue to evolve across high school athletics in Kansas.
