TOPEKA — As Topeka continues to grapple with a recent surge in gun violence—including multiple shootings and reports of teenagers threatening one another with firearms in public spaces—a woman was booked into the Shawnee County Jail on Wednesday afternoon facing several serious firearm-related felony charges.
According to jail records, Jade Marie Tice, 28, was booked on December 18, 2025, at 3:40 p.m. in connection with an incident that resulted in multiple criminal counts. Court documents list the following charges under case number 25CR2067:
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Criminal discharge of a firearm; recklessly at an occupied dwelling
- Unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits
- Criminal damage to property (loss valued between $1,000 and $25,000)
- Theft under $1,500

All listed charges currently carry no bond, indicating the seriousness of the allegations. No court date had been publicly posted at the time of booking.
The arrest comes amid heightened concern across the city following a string of gun-related incidents. In recent days, residents have reported shootings, threats involving firearms, and disturbances in places traditionally viewed as safe—including shopping centers and community spaces. Earlier this week, Topeka Police responded to reports of teenagers allegedly threatening gun violence inside West Ridge Mall, prompting a lockdown and renewed scrutiny of public safety measures.
While details of the alleged incident involving Tice have not yet been released by law enforcement, the nature of the charges—particularly those involving the discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling—reflects the escalating risks facing residents.
Law enforcement officials have repeatedly urged the public to report threats and suspicious activity and to avoid escalating disputes involving firearms. Community leaders, meanwhile, continue to call for a coordinated response that addresses enforcement, prevention, and access to mental health and conflict-resolution resources.
This case remains under investigation. As with all criminal matters, the charges are allegations, and Tice is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
