A violent weekend across Topeka and Shawnee County
The Shawnee County Adult Detention Center reported 16 new bookings between Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning, with several violent and high-profile arrests that included robbery, aggravated assault of law enforcement officers, and serious drug offenses.
Among the weekend’s arrests were multiple suspects held without bond, signaling a tense uptick in major crimes and continued law-enforcement confrontations across the city.
Major Felony Arrests
James Montgomery McCrea Jr., 48, was booked at 3 p.m. Sunday for a list of severe charges, including aggravated robbery causing bodily harm, aggravated battery, aggravated assault on a law-enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, theft, and interference with law enforcement by filing a false felony report.
McCrea — a registered sex and violent offender since 2004 — is being held without bond. He also faces a Topeka bench warrant for $161 cash.
Anthony Michael Day, 36, was arrested for robbery, aggravated assault of a law-enforcement officer, theft, and a Kansas Department of Corrections parole hold, also without bond.
Carmelo Jesus Foy, 20, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, interference with law enforcement, and unlawful possession of a firearm, with no bond set.
Rhynee Daquonne Christoff Jordan, 29, was booked for possession of marijuana (two or more prior convictions), criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, and failure to pay the state drug tax, each carrying a $25,000 bond.
Drug and Property Crimes
Caleb Anthony Duryea, 18, was arrested on multiple felony counts: possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, motor-vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and a string of traffic offenses.
Duryea also has bench warrants totaling $7,225 and remains held without bond.
Miguel Angel Bermudez-Sanabria, 29, was charged with assault and driving while suspended, both misdemeanors, and released after posting $300 cash bond.
Domestic and Assault-Related Cases
Xavier Kristopher Barksdale, 33, was charged with criminal damage to property (felony) and domestic battery (second offense within five years). He remains in custody without bond.
Joshua Lewis Hunt, 40, was arrested for domestic battery involving a family or dating partner, with a $10,000 OR bond pending a November 26 court appearance.
Traffic and Bench-Warrant Arrests
Several arrests were for unresolved traffic cases and outstanding warrants:
- Emily Stella Lutz, 21 — expired registration and no insurance — released the same night.
- Hannah Marie Roberts, 35 — multiple vehicle violations and no license — given an OR bond with a November 25 court date.
- Cathleen Ann Oden, 51 — driving while suspended and registration violations — $4,515 in bench warrants.
- Jeremy Allen Cline, 34 — $1,890 bench warrants.
- Todd Robert Erwin, 61 — multiple county holds totaling $6,005.
DUI and Public-Safety Violations
Karley Elise Oliver, 26, was charged with DUI (.08 or higher), operating without an ignition-interlock device, failure to yield, and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Her combined bond totals $10,000 personal surety.

The Topeka Police Department and Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office have not released additional details on the assaults involving law-enforcement officers.
