If you’re looking for something fun to do over winter break, I have a pretty good idea: go eat lunch at 785 Beer Company’s Christmas pop-up restaurant.

As soon as I walked in, the decorations made me feel really happy. Everything was super festive, and the holiday music was playing, which gave me good inspiration and put me right into the Christmas spirit. I felt excited the whole time.

I ordered the Jack Frost mocktail, which was really cool. The wait staff was very nice and even added two marshmallows to my drink. They were toasted! I’ll be honest though—I wasn’t a big fan of the coconut, but that’s just my opinion. To me, it tasted like Christmas lemonade, which was pretty great.

The wait staff was extremely nice. They even let me take a group picture with them next to the giant Yeti, which was about 15 feet tall. That was awesome.

I explored the restaurant to check out all the decorations, and near the blow-up toy shop area there was a birthday party, which I thought was pretty cool. I think this would be a really good birthday spot for adults or December birthdays. For kids, it might get a little boring unless you did something like a kids pickleball party, which they actually have there too.

While we were there, we ran into Topeka’s resident pickle authority, Andrew Evans, also known as the Pickleball Librarian. At the birthday party, there were lots of people eating, celebrating Christmas, and celebrating the birthday. There were even bagpipers playing Christmas songs like Jingle Bells, which was something I’ve never seen before.

We ordered a bunch of food off the menu, which had really fun festive names. There were Frosty’s Pizza Rolls, which are homemade dough stuffed with pepperoni and cheese, Loaded Tinsel Tots with bacon, cheese, and ranch, and Mrs. Claus’ cranberry and jalapeño cream cheese dip. I didn’t try that one, but my parents loved it. My dad was kind of mad that it only came with eight crackers though. (LOL.)

I also had a side salad with ranch, and it was fresh and savory. I am somewhat of a ranch pro, so I would know.

I was so full that I didn’t get dessert, but it looked amazing. Overall, I think the Christmas pop-up at 785 Beer Company is pretty great if you want some holiday joy and good food. Trust me—go before it ends in January. You do need to make reservations by January 4, and please support local businesses.

Also, they comped my Jack Frost mocktail because they said I was sweet and respectful. My mom says I’m spoiled and rotten at home… LOL.
