Victoria Lewis-Ashburn, affectionately known as Victoria to her friends and family, passed away on November 11, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas, due to medical reasons. Born on July 29, 1966, Victoria’s life was marked by her loving nature, kindness, and intelligence that touched everyone she encountered.
Victoria was a beacon of light in the lives of many, especially her beloved son Kristopher Lewis, who was the pride and joy of her life. She was a cherished sister to Wanda Reutzel, Cindi Porrish, Mark Persinger, Sondra Comstock, and Michael Persinger. Her spirit was nurtured by her mother, Alberta Cossel, and father, Faylon Persinger, and further supported by her stepmother, Sheila Persinger, and stepfather, Randy Cossel. Though preceded in death by Gary Persinger, Victoria’s warm memories with him remained a treasure in her heart.
A proud graduate of Newton High School, Victoria committed herself to a career of service. She retired as a Correctional Officer, where her dedication and resilience were admired by her colleagues. Her career path also led her to Security Transport and Special Need Caretaker roles, where her compassionate nature and steadfastness were a comfort to those in her care. Victoria’s zest for life was evident in her love for the outdoors. Whether it was cheering on the Chiefs or KU, her enthusiasm was infectious. Her ability to cherish and value every moment spent with her friends and family was one of her most admirable traits. Victoria’s playful spirit shone brightest when she was with her dog, Angel, who was not just a pet but a beloved companion. Her best friend, Jeanie Brandenburg, could attest to the countless moments of joy they shared. The bond they forged over the years was not just one of friendship but of sisterhood.
Victoria’s presence was a gift, and her absence will be felt deeply by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Victoria’s life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of character. Her journey was one of purpose and passion, and she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved her. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Victoria Lewis-Ashburn will be deeply missed, yet her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her spirit will always be a guiding light in their lives.
