Sharon Sue Cansler Hill, known affectionately as Sharon to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at the age of 70, due to an aortic aneurysm in Topeka, Kansas. Born on July 21, 1954, in Kansas City, Kansas, Sharon was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life.
Sharon’s early years were spent in the heart of Kansas City, where she attended Argentine High School, graduating in 1973. She was known for her generous spirit and gentle demeanor, traits that would define her throughout her life. After completing her education, Sharon dedicated her life to the noble vocation of a homemaker, a role she embraced with love and exceptional care.
The matriarch of her family, Sharon was predeceased by her beloved husband, William C. Hill. She is survived by her adoring daughter, Nicole Lynn Hill-Bettes, and her cherished granddaughters, Colbie Mae Bettes and Teagan Louise Bettes, all of whom reside in Topeka, Kansas. The bond she shared with her granddaughters was one of pure joy and immeasurable love.
Sharon was the daughter of the late Hershall and Anna Mae Cansler and was one of their seven children. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, Donna Smith of Lathrop, Missouri; Karen Houser of Fort Scott, Kansas; and Gary Cansler of Kansas City, Kansas. Her brothers Doug, Larry, Fred, Neal, and her sister Sandra Cansler preceded her in death, and she held their memories close to her heart. Sharon has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins she cherished as well.
Those who knew Sharon understood that her life was centered around her family. Her home was a hub of warmth and hospitality, often filled with the laughter of family dinners, the concentration of card games, and the quiet companionship of working on puzzles. Sharon had a passion for watching TV and movies, especially when shared with her loved ones. Her presence made these simple moments special and will be deeply missed.
Sharon’s legacy is one of love and selflessness. She had an innate ability to create a welcoming atmosphere, where everyone felt cherished and supported. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sharon’s gentle nature and loving heart made her a confidante and friend to many.
As we bid farewell to Sharon, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by the love she gave and the love she received. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive through the stories and memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
