Ronald Robert DeWeese Obituary
Ronald Robert DeWeese, age 82, of Topeka, KS, passed away on May 17, 2025. Born on July 12, 1942 to the late Ronald Oliver DeWeese and Helen Katherine Flanagan DeWeese in Kansas City, MO, Ron was a cherished husband, father, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.
Ron was the beloved husband of Suzanne DeWeese for over 20 years. He was a man of strength, determination and ambition, proudly serving in the Marine Corp reserves from 1961-1967.
For over 40 years, Ron was the owner and operator of Ace Hardware in Manhattan, KS, a business he established with his father in 1966. During that time, he constructed the building on Tuttle Creek Boulevard and formed enduring friendships with who worked alongside him. Ron and Suzanne retired to the Topeka area and spent over 15 years living at Lake Wabaunsee. Ron was actively involved with Grace Episcopal Cathedral and the Topeka High School Class of 1960 alumni group.
Ron was an eager traveler and never missed an opportunity for a road trip, including a memorable adventure to Alaska in 2022. He and his wife enjoyed many adventures through Europe, Australia, and Central America. He was also incredibly protective and proud of his family. Whether he was at a store, at church, or a restaurant, he would enthusiastically brag about the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren to anyone who would listen.
Ronald Robert DeWeese lived a full life, marked by the simple pleasures of companionship, family, and community. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a reminder of the warmth and generosity that defined him.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne DeWeese; his sister Kathleen Sinzheimer; his four daughters Suzanne Decker, Stephanie Sisco, Katie Hubbard, and Kristin Gustafson; Suzanne’s children Kent Quanstrom, Jon Quanstrom, and Annie Millis; 22 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Cathedral to provide scholarships to Cathedral youth to attend summer church camp. Please send checks to the church with “DeWeese” in the memo line.
