Richard D. McConnell Jr., known as Rich, was born on December 19, 1968, and passed away on January 7, 2025, at the age of 56 following a stroke.
Rich’s surviving family include parent, Karen McConnell (Richard McConnell Sr – deceased). His brother, Jesse McConnell, his wife Aimee and their daughter, Fiona McConnell. Rich’s zest for life were also shared with his significant other, Robin Alvarez, and a family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory.
A graduate of Shawnee Heights High School, Rich furthered his education with a year of college before finding his true calling as a home remodeler. Rich spent decades refining the art of renovation and building enduring relationships with his clientele. His reputation and reliability earned him the trust and friendship of many who often became repeat customers over the years.
Rich’s love of cooking put him on a perpetual quest for the best pizza crust, experimenting with various flours and techniques in pursuit of excellence. His love for cooking was only rivaled by his enjoyment of BBQing, a skill he honed both at home and on the competitive circuit with his BBQ partner, Stewart Miles. Friends and family frequently gathered to appreciate Rich’s latest creations, moments that are now treasured memories. Music filled Rich’s home and heart, as he appreciated a wide variety of genres, with a particular fondness for the Blues.
Though Rich’s time with us was cut short, the memories he created will continue to be cherished. He will be forever remembered and eternally missed. A Remembrance will be held in the Spring.
