Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend! Nancy JoAnne Ott meant much to many.
She was born on January 28, 1952, in Topeka, Kansas, to parents LeRoy and Genevieve Ott. Her sister, Leah, was beguiled by this cute little, brown-eyed bundle coming home from the hospital.
Nancy was a life-long Topekan, educated in Topeka Public Schools and then worked as a paraprofessional with 501 schools.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily Potts; son, Eric Rook; grandchildren, Joseph Bauer Schriener, Evie Potts, Jasmine Potts, Alexandra Potts, Jason Potts, Christopher Rook, and Collin Rook; great grandchildren, Kenai, Kalais, and Pearla; sister, Leah Gabler-Marshall and husband H.B. Marshall; niece, Jennifer McKnight and her children, Griffen and Connor McKnight.
Nancy never missed a chance to ride in the car and always observed the clouds and the blue of the sky when she was outside. “Oh, look as that one over there! It looks like…” And then she would be spot on with what the shape looked like. The older she got to be, the more appreciative she was, always saying thank you for anything that was done for her. She loved God, family, and country, and an outing to the grocery store!
A memorial service will be at 10:30am, Friday, April 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison St. Topeka, KS 66612, with a reception afterwards in Disciple’s Hall.
