Lamika Layvonne Janae (Brooks) Dahlene, 42, of Gilbert, AZ, was called to Heaven on Friday, July 4, 2025. She was born on June 22, 1983, in Topeka, Kansas, to Yolanda Johnson and the late Peter Brooks. She was also raised by her stepfather, Alfred Johnson. Lamika was a vibrant and caring person who had a natural gift for connecting with others. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel as though they had known each other for years. With over 20 years of experience in the nursing field, she found great joy in caring for others and made a lasting impact on many lives. Due to her husband’s military service, Lamika lived in several states before settling in Gilbert, AZ, in 2012. She was married to Gary Dahlene, and together they raised two children, Aireon and Adrian Dahlene. Lamika was preceded in death by her grandparents, Josephine and Cecil Clayton, brother, Andre Brooks, aunt, Connye Clayton, aunt, Darita Johnson, and uncle, Rodney Clayton. She is survived by her mother, Yolanda Johnson, stepfather, Alfred Johnson, husband, Gary Dahlene, children, Aireon and Adrian Dahlene, siblings, Dinesha and Andre Johnson, James, Peter, Angelelah, Kennan, and Damario Brooks, Nikkia and Courtney Crockett, multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.
