With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce Elaine Nickerson, who departed this life on April 24, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on May 3, 1960, Joyce was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a long-standing and faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and joyfully served as an Arts and Crafts teacher during Vacation Bible School. Joyce dedicated 25 years of her life as a rehabilitation technician at Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital, where she touched many lives with her compassionate care and gentle spirit. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Talisha LaJean Scott; her grandchildren, Talia Coleman and Traviona Coleman; and her special granddaughter, Er’Nica Isaac. Joyce had a special gift for creativity, spending her time making handmade dolls for her nieces, crocheting, and designing custom t-shirts — each item crafted with love and care. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Ina Jean Nickerson; and her siblings, Beverly “Butch” Jones, Gwendolyn Kenoly, and Melvin “Stix” Jones Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Thomas Nickerson; and her siblings, Billy Jones, Marion Kennedy, Sandra Nickerson, Linda Brown, Phillip Nickerson, and Rodney Nickerson — along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church members, and friends who will miss her deeply. Joyce’s legacy of kindness, creativity, and service will continue to live on through the many lives she touched
