Janet Lucy Ferguson Wills

March 5, 1943 - May 2, 2025

Janet Lucy Ferguson Wills, age 82 left this earth peacefully on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at Midland Hospice House after a short battle with cancer surrounded by family and dear friends. She was given birth on March 5, 1943 in Scandia, KS to C.V. “Bus” Ferguson & Matilda McDowell Ferguson. She was united in marriage to Arthur “Gus” Wills on January 28th, 1965. To this union they were blessed with 3 daughters, April Wills Peet, Joelle Wills Mason & Bridget Wills Leuszler.

Janet loved making baby blankets, afghans, stocking hats, lap blankets and many more by crocheting, knitting or sewing. She had a giving heart and always asked anyone new that she met if they would like her to make them a throw, blanket, scarf……whatever they wanted she would always find a way. You didn’t always get the colors you wanted or expected because if she ran out of a certain color she may add another sometimes multiple just to complete it. One of her greatest joys was when she would donate blankets to the newborn babies at the hospital or hats to the cancer patients.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline Ferguson (step-mom), husband Gus Wills, Infant son Christopher D. Hammond, 3 sisters Carla Highfill-Douglas, Rae Novak & Carol Ridgeway. Her son-in-law Tommy Leuszler and dear friend Dorothy Chisham.

Janet had various occupations in her life which primarily consisted of retail and inventory, however the one she took great pride in was being a mother, grandmother, aunt and adopted grandmother to whomever she claimed.

Janet is survived by her 3 daughters, life-long best friend Leza Underwood, 4 grand-children, Kimberly Underwood Divine, Megan Mason, Kyle Mason & Eric Mason. Two Great Grand-daughters, Maddox Walles and Blakely Mason and a numerous number of close friends who will miss her dearly!!

A celebration of Life will be on Saturday, May 17th at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, Osage City with Rev. Mike Turner officiating. Internment will be at a later date.
