Daniel "Danny" Gomez

April 29, 1961

Daniel “Danny” Gomez, age 63, of Lawrence, KS and formerly of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025.

He was born the son of Angel Gomez and Rebecca Ann (Padilla) Guthrie on April 29, 1961, in Topeka, KS. Danny was a 1979 graduate from Topeka High School.

He was employed as a Foil Operator at Hallmark Cards for 44 years. Danny from a young age, loved to play sports and continued throughout the years as well as coaching and refereeing games. His love for sports continued as he would cheer on the Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams (when the team was in St. Louis), as well as the Missouri Tigers. Danny was the happiest when he was dancing, singing, and spoiling his entire family. 

Danny is survived by his significant other, Jamie Cole; children, Danielle Eilert, Kaitlyn Gantz (Ben), Trinity Gomez (Dawson), Maddox Gomez, and Madison Gomez. Other survivors include his stepfather, Delbert Guthrie and his beloved grandchildren, Jalen, Raya, Jacob, Mason, Naomi, Jovie, Mathias, as well as the mother of his children, Stacy Gomez.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Chris, Pete, and David Gomez.

Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 P.M., with a rosary prayed at 6:00 P.M., on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., on Friday, February 7, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow after the service and Danny will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorial contributions can be made in Danny’s memory to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, 200 Maine St. Ste: C, Lawrence, KS 66044. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
