Billye June Betsworth

Billye June Betsworth passed away at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. She was 85 years old. Billye was born July 10, 1939, in Huntington, West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Betty Jeane Koster and Anna “Lorraine VanMatre; parents Lewis and Lottie Barnett, brothers-in-law, Lt. Colonel David Franklin VanMatre, Larry Reeb and Bill Wilcox.

She is survived by her husband Albert Betsworth, her sisters Mary Reeb; Charlotte Parker all of Topeka, Kansas and her three sons Richard Betsworth, Larre (Katherine) Betsworth and Tab (Sonia) Betsworth; four grandchildren Cole (Megan) Betsworth, Cody (Stephanie) Betsworth, Brandon Betsworth, and Chelsea (Quinn) Leavey; and five great grandchildren Porter Biester, Caleb Betsworth, Camden Betsworth, Gemma Betsworth and Annora Betsworth. She graduated from Topeka High School in May 1957.

She and Albert were married in Lyndon, Kansas on May 19, 1956. The majority of her professional career was with Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Topeka, Kansas, serving in several positions. She was a member of the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka, Kansas.

Billye’s husband, her family and friends, and her cat (Smoky) made her life full and rewarding. Billye was a devoted and compassionate mother who lived her life with an abundance of love for her three sons. Her unwavering strength, kindness, and selflessness were the foundation upon which her family was built. Billye embraced motherhood with unmatched dedication, ensuring that her sons always felt supported, cherished, and deeply loved. Whether through gentle encouragement or boundless sacrifices, she guided them with a love that knew no limits.

A service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, located at 3501 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas, on Friday, April, 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Dinner will be provided following the celebration.
