Beverly Ann Harris was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 22, 1939 to the late Aquilla Julia Cleveland Bell and John Wesley Bell. She was the oldest of their four daughters.
Beverly was educated in Atlanta Public Schools and graduated from David T. Howard High School where she met several “forever friends.” Among them was her husband, Joseph Harris. After graduation she attended Clark College.
Beverly’s husband enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and she soon joined him in his travels. They eventually settled in Topeka, Kansas. Beverly attended Kaw Area Technical School to become a RHIT, (Registered Health Information Technician). Upon receiving her certification, she worked in the Medical Records Departments of Stormont Vail Hospital. Beverly later worked for the Department of Corrections where she retired. Beverly was very passionate about her involvement with the female prisoners, encouraging them to seek a better life upon release.
Preceding Beverly in death were her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Delores, Johnnie, Bonnie, Velvoria and Patricia, brother, Horace, sister/cousin, Holly, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To her special friend Thornal G. Oliver, THANK YOU! A special thank you to Mr. Charles and Mrs. Linda Ninnz and Mrs. Brenda Bullock-McCollough for your loving kindness to our Beverly and our family.
