Benjamin Thomas Brooks – With profound sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of Benjamin, better known as Ben Ben, born August 26, 2002, in Vicksburg, MS, and departed this life on Friday, May 9th, 2025, at the age of 22 in Douglas County, Kansas.

A 2020 graduate of Warren Central High School. Benjamin enlisted in the US Army after high school graduation, serving with the 3-1 Aviation Battalion, HHC at Fort Riley, Kansas, as an E4, MOS 42 A, where he met his wife and made many new friends. Benjamin attended Washburn University, studying Electrical Engineering, and became an apprentice member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 226 after his service in the US Army.

Ben was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jacqueline Dunmore and Clarence Dunmore Jr, and his paternal grandmother, Cynthia Gail Brooks; godmother Grace “Bonnie” Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Samatha Adele Tucker-Brooks, son, Kreed Thomas Brooks of Topeka, KS, his parents, Rosemary Dunmore, Vicksburg, MS, Thomas Brooks, Buffalo, NY and step father Marvin Coleman Sr, sister, Bethani Brooks, and brother, Marvin Coleman Jr., of Vicksburg, MS.; Grandfather Willie Brooks (Latoya), Brandon, MS; an uncle, Clarence Dunmore III, great-aunt, Catherine Miller, of Nashville, TN, great uncle, Jackie Leon Miller (Bennie Louise) of Vicksburg, MS; Cousins Gwen Cauthen (Bruce), Rose Flowers, Douglas Miller(Kimberly) all of Vicksburg, MS and godmother, Jacqueline Brown (Joseph) along with her children.

He also leaves his new loving Kansas family, in laws Sandi and Greg Tucker, Wil Tucker, Kim Tucker of Portis, KS; Cody Tucker (Arikka) of Quebec, SD, Van Tucker (Carlee), Arkansas, KS, bonus sister Mershaa Wiltshire, Adoptive parents Stephanie and Robert Patty, Junction City, KS and Norrie Holt of Topeka, KS

Ben Ben is fondly remembered and loved by his extended Vicksburg family members, the Johnson, Coleman and McKay families, Tina Nash-Qualls and her fabulous 5, Betty and Gracie Tyler and Rhoda Williams. His mentors, Dr. Troy D. Truly, Sr, and Sgt. 1st class Darrin Gibbs, both of the United States Army, are thanked for touching my soldier’s life.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday, May 18, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will take place at 12:00 pm on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made in Benjamin’s memory to Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
