Barbara Elaine Walters

June 17, 1954

Barbara Elaine Walters was born June 17, 1954 in Lindsborg, Kansas, to James Jacob (JJ) and Kathryn Grace (Snyder) Walters. She died unexpectedly on May 13, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Barbara grew up in Marquette, Kansas; Blair, Nebraska; and Lindsborg, Kansas, graduating from Lindsborg High school in 1972. She attended Kansas State University and worked for KSU printing services.

Barbara enjoyed working at a youth hostel at Grand Lake, Colorado several summers. She also worked at the Topeka North K-Mart Store over ten years and drove a school bus in the Seaman District. Barb became a graphic artist at Capital Graphics/Copy Center of Topeka in 1996, from which she retired in 2024.

Barb was an active member of the Topeka Handweavers and Spinners Guild and enjoyed flower gardening and caring for her yard and cats. She loved creating through weaving or knitting and frequently shared items with others.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Donald J Walters (Vicky), nephew, Brian (BJ) Walters (Carolyn), Niece, Amanda Walters (Ben Miller), and 5 grand nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to: Helping Hands Humane Shelter, 5720 SW 21st St, 66604 or the Cat Association of Topeka, 1719 SW Gage Blvd, 66604 or donor’s choice, in lieu of flowers.

The family invites you to come and remember Barb’s life together between 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 21st at 305 SE 17th St, Ste E, Topeka. Inurnment will take place at Marquette Cemetery at a later date.
