TOPEKA, Kan. — A reported burglary in progress brought a significant law enforcement response to the 1500 block of SW 15th Street Tuesday afternoon, October 27, where three individuals were detained as officers investigated the situation.
The incident was initially reported through the Facebook group Topeka Police Scanner SSO/TPD/AMR/FIRE & NEWS, which identified the call as a burglary in progress near SW 15th Street.

This Is Topeka arrived while officers were still actively responding and witnessed three individuals being detained.

Photographs taken at the scene show numerous Topeka Police Department vehicles, along with Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office units, positioned along the residential street with emergency lights activated.
Several officers could be seen interacting with individuals at the scene, including a man wearing a dark green shirt and a woman wearing a white tank top. Both were photographed with their hands behind their backs while officers conducted their investigation.

Additional officers were visible along the sidewalk and near neighboring properties as the police response continued.
The photographs document a substantial law enforcement presence in the neighborhood, although the circumstances leading to the detentions remain unclear.
At this time, authorities have not confirmed whether the three individuals were formally arrested, whether any property was taken, or whether anyone was injured.

Being detained by police does not necessarily mean an individual has been arrested or charged with a crime.
This Is Topeka is seeking additional information from the Topeka Police Department regarding the initial call, the circumstances surrounding the detentions, and whether criminal charges are expected.
This is a developing story. Additional information will be published as it becomes available.
