TOPEKA, Kan. — Social media creator JoshLilj, whose videos documenting acts of generosity have attracted more than 10 million followers across platforms, says his team will be in the Topeka and Wichita areas next week searching for Kansans whose lives could be changed by a helping hand.
In a post shared with his audience, Josh announced that his team is looking for people facing genuine hardship, including those at risk of homelessness, individuals living with disabilities, families struggling through financial crises, and community members who spend their time helping others while quietly dealing with their own challenges.
The announcement comes alongside the story of James Cowan, a man Josh said was on the brink of homelessness after learning he could no longer remain in his apartment because he was not listed on the lease. After hearing his story, Josh’s team helped secure housing for Cowan and later hired him to join their organization.

Today, Cowan reportedly travels with the team, helping identify people in need and participating in surprise acts of generosity for others.
“James’s story shows how one opportunity can completely change someone’s future,” Josh wrote. “We want to find the next person who deserves that chance.”
Residents who know someone in need are encouraged to submit nominations detailing the person’s circumstances, their city, and how assistance could make a meaningful difference in their lives. Josh said he personally reviews both nominations submitted through his website and stories shared within his online Reddit community.
The creator also advised followers that if James Cowan Jr. contacts them regarding a nomination, the outreach is legitimate.
While the exact dates and locations of the Kansas visits have not been announced, Josh confirmed his team plans to visit both the Wichita and Topeka areas before traveling to Los Angeles.
For many local families facing unexpected hardships, the visit could provide an opportunity that changes the course of someone’s life.
Anyone wishing to nominate a deserving individual should follow the instructions provided in JoshLilj’s social media post and submit as much detail as possible to help his team identify those most in need.
