March 16, 2025 – Topeka, KS – It’s a story that’s becoming all too familiar. Bryan Scott Wurtz Jr., a name that has frequented Shawnee County booking reports over the past year, has once again been taken into custody. This time, he was arrested on March 15, 2025, at 10:15 AM for criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A Pattern of Arrests

Wurtz’s latest charges come as no surprise to those who have followed his criminal history. This isn’t his first – or even his second – run-in with law enforcement. His rap sheet over the past year alone paints a picture of escalating offenses:

  • November 10, 2024 – Arrested on aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and driving while suspended. Some charges carried no bond, signaling the seriousness of the allegations.
  • January 8, 2024 – Involved in a foot chase with law enforcement after fleeing a vehicle stop. Upon his arrest, officers found fentanyl-laced “Dirty 30” pills, methamphetamine, and a handgun. Charges included distribution of opiates, interference with law enforcement, and possession of a weapon by a felon.

The Latest Charges

This time, Wurtz faces:

  • Criminal damage to property (<$1,000)
  • Possession of a firearm while under the influence
  • Bond set at $7,000 (Cash/Professional Surety)

While these charges may seem minor compared to his past offenses, they highlight a continuing cycle of criminal activity that has yet to be broken.

What’s Next?

Given his history, Wurtz may be facing harsher penalties if convicted. Repeat offenders, particularly those with firearm and drug-related charges, often see longer sentences and stricter probation terms. Whether this arrest will be the one that finally forces a change remains to be seen.

For now, Bryan Scott Wurtz Jr. is behind bars once again—but if history is any indication, it may not be long before he’s back in the headlines.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing case.
