– Governor Laura Kelly announced Friday seven appointments to the following state councils and commissions.

State Rehabilitation Council
Purpose: To review, analyze, and advise rehabilitation services regarding the performance of the state workforce investment board.

  • Angie Zimmerman, Hays
  • Dana Swope, Wichita

Statewide Independent Living Council of Kansas
Purpose: To develop a state plan through external input, ensuring independent living for Kansans, to advocate for the accomplishment of the state plan objectives, to monitor, review, and evaluate the state plan’s implementation, and to be a catalyst for independent living.

  • Angie Zimmerman, Hays

Kansas African American Affairs Commission
Purpose: To devise strategies to address public policy concerns of the African American community through state agency, corporation, and foundation partnerships and serve as a conduit for programs, grants, research, and policy advice for state and local organizations addressing unique concerns of the African American community in Kansas.

  • Crystal Davis, Junction City

American Innovation $1 Coin Program Liaison
Purpose: To enable the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in recognition of American innovation.

  • Patrick Zollner, Topeka

Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities
Purpose: To advocate for increasing productivity, independence, integration, and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in Kansas communities and develop a state plan and fund activities to meet the plan’s goals.
