At This is Topeka, we believe in delivering insightful, community-driven reporting, which is why we’re excited to welcome Danielle Twemlow Consulting as our newest writer. A community health educator with over 22 years of experience, Danielle has spent her career advocating for equity, public health, and policy transparency. As the future host of The Kansas True Podcast, she will amplify community voices while breaking down complex issues that impact Kansans. Now, she’s bringing that same passion to The Rundown, our new series covering Topeka City Council meetings—providing clear, concise updates on decisions shaping our city.
Why ‘The Rundown’ Matters
Local government impacts every aspect of daily life—from public safety and education to infrastructure and business development. However, staying up-to-date on City Council meetings can be overwhelming for many residents. That’s where The Rundown comes in.
Each week, Danielle will provide a clear, concise, and unbiased summary of what happens in Topeka’s City Council chambers. She will break down policy discussions, highlight important votes, and analyze how decisions align with the needs of the community. Whether it’s budget allocations, zoning changes, or new initiatives, Danielle will ensure that Topekans stay informed in a way that is accessible and engaging.
A Passion for Topeka
Beyond her professional work, Danielle is a deeply involved community leader. She serves on several boards and workgroups, including the Racial Equity Impact Analysis Workgroup and the LiveWell Shawnee County Healthy Babies Workgroup. Her extensive advocacy efforts, including her role in Topeka’s first community-led violence intervention program, underscore her commitment to making our city a better place for all.
As she takes on this new role with This is Topeka, Danielle will continue to bring her unique perspective, deep knowledge, and unwavering commitment to transparency and justice. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to the team!
Stay tuned for The Rundown, where Danielle will break down the decisions shaping our city—because informed communities are empowered communities.
