Ezekiel "Kelo" G. Arce

October 4, 1933 - January 9, 2025

Ezekiel “Kelo” G. Arce, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

He was born October 4, 1933, in Nixon, TX, to Juan and Felicita Arce. He married the love of his life-our mother, Josephine (Cabrera) Arce. She preceded him in death. 

He served in the United States Army. He is survived by his three sons, Anthony (Becky), Rene (Rose), Adrian; and a daughter, Joanna (Tim). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include his brother, Raul Aguirre and a sister, Noemi Trigo.

Arce was preceded in death by his brother, Juan Arce and a sister, Lena Martinez.

Our Father had a dream of his own in music, and being from Texas, he loved the Tejano sound. Therefore, he orchestrated a band known as Anthony and the Royals. Which included his three sons and many more talented musicians. The band performed for many joyous occasions throughout the five-state area for 14 years. He was a popular barber for 44 years. He ended in retirement owning his own business in 2001.

Arce will lie in state from 4-8:00 P.M., with a rosary at 6:00 P.M., on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, January 17, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made in Arce’s memory to the Nixon Latin American Cemetery, c/o Steve Aguirre, 315 S. Parker Avenue, Nixon, TX 78140 and/or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
