TOPEKA, Kan. (July 13, 2025) — A Topeka man is behind bars without bond after being arrested for the second time in just over a month on a disturbing series of felony charges, including aggravated child endangerment, illegal firearm possession, and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Christopher Alan Nix, 43, was booked into the Shawnee County Jail on July 12 at 5:10 p.m., according to jail records. The latest charges stem from two active cases and suggest a pattern of escalating behavior involving children, weapons, and violent conduct.
The charges include:
- Child Endangerment
- Two counts of aggravated endangering a child under 18 in a reckless situation
- Weapons Offenses
- Possession of a firearm while addicted to or under the influence of controlled substances
- Possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits
- Violent Offenses
- Two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Battery on a law enforcement officer while on duty
Authorities also placed holds on Nix for fingerprinting and DNA collection. No court date has been set as of this report.
This marks at least the second time Nix has been booked into the Shawnee County jail in recent weeks. His previous arrest, also related to weapons and child endangerment, raised community concerns about repeat offenders and public safety.
In Kansas, aggravated child endangerment is a felony offense that can carry significant prison time. According to the Kansas Department for Children and Families, such cases are increasingly tied to illegal drug use and firearms in the home.
Nix remains in custody. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This is a developing story. This Is Topeka will provide updates as court proceedings move forward.
