Governor Laura Kelly Orders Shawnee County State Office Closures Due to Severe Weather
TOPEKA, Kan. – In response to hazardous road conditions and dangerously cold temperatures, Governor Laura Kelly has ordered state office buildings in Shawnee County to close on Monday, January 6, 2025.
“Due to the potential for hazardous road conditions and dangerously cold temperatures, we are closing state office buildings in Shawnee County on Monday,” said Governor Kelly. “Non-essential travel is strongly discouraged. If travel is absolutely necessary, please exercise extreme caution and allow road crews and emergency personnel enough space to perform their duties safely.”
Non-essential state employees are not required to report to work. Benefits-eligible non-essential employees should record Inclement Weather Leave for the closure period.
Essential employees, however, will be required to report as scheduled.
