Hi, I’m Jeffery Fogg Jr, and I am one of the creators of This Is Topeka. Today, I want to share something deeply personal and incredibly important to us.

When our father passed away, we wanted to celebrate his incredible life and share his story with the world. But we faced a heartbreaking obstacle. Publishing an obituary with a photo in our local newspaper cost over $600—money we simply didn’t have. As a result, his life story isn’t searchable online. It’s as if he never existed. That pain, of feeling like his memory might fade away, is something we wouldn’t wish on anyone.

That experience inspired us to take action. At This Is Topeka, we believe every life deserves to be remembered and celebrated, without financial barriers. That’s why we’re launching a free obituary section for our community.

Through this new section, families can share their loved ones’ stories, complete with photos and memories, at no cost. It’s our way of ensuring that no one in Topeka Kansas or beyond is forgotten and that every life leaves a lasting digital legacy.

We’re reaching out to local funeral homes to partner with us in this mission, helping to make it easier for families to create meaningful tributes. If you’ve recently lost a loved one or simply want to share their memory, you can submit an obituary directly through our website at ThisIsTopeka.com.

This isn’t just a project for us—it’s deeply personal. It’s a way to honor our father and every incredible person in our community. By doing this, we’re helping ensure that their legacies live on.

At ThisIsTopeka.com, we strive to be the publication of record for Topeka, Kansas—a place where the stories of our community are documented and preserved for generations to come. A key part of that mission is our free obituary section.

We believe that every life deserves to be remembered and celebrated, regardless of financial circumstances. By offering free obituaries, we’re ensuring that no story goes untold and no legacy is forgotten. Being the publication of record means creating a lasting archive of people and their incredible journeys. Together, we can honor our community’s past while building its future.

If this resonates with you or you’d like to help support this effort, please reach out. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that every life in Topeka is celebrated, remembered, and never forgotten.

Thank you for letting us share this with you, and for being part of our mission to honor and preserve the stories that matter most.
