Casey’s General Stores is gearing up to make a splash in Topeka with the construction of a new convenience store and gas station at the 17th and Washburn Ave shopping center. Pouring concrete is now underway at the site, as Casey’s prepares to open this location, which will feature the brand’s well-loved food offerings, including pizza, wings, sandwiches, and of course breakfast pizza, because who doesn”t need a weird concoction of eggs to start your day in your truck or at the office. Set to take over a significant portion of the current shopping center, Casey’s aims to provide convenience to central Topeka.
Red Mountain Group, overseeing the development, announced plans for construction to begin in earnest in the second quarter of 2024, which places the official start around March or April.
Beyond Casey’s new store, Red Mountain Group is developing several additional spaces for retail, restaurant, and office opportunities, with units ranging from approximately 1,200 to 6,442 square feet. While the remaining tenants for this development remain under wraps, Red Mountain Group indicated that negotiations and lease signings are ongoing. Until all agreements are finalized, they are unable to disclose further information about prospective businesses joining the shopping center.
This new Casey’s store and accompanying retail space mark an exciting development in Topeka news, promising increased shopping and dining options for the 17th and Washburn area.
